For the love of Edie Scholarship

Choosing For The Love of Edie Scholarship recipient that reflects who Edie was, and what values were most important to her is a difficult choice, and a heartfelt one.

This past year, we awarded the second For The Love Of Edie scholarship to Rosemarie Gotsch, a Beverly High School senior planning to major in Elementary Education. We believe that Rosemarie will use her education to "impact the next generation of thinkers, activists and scholars that will soon shape our global community."

With the money we raised in 2016, we were able to honor the memory of our beloved Edie and on May 31st, 2017 we awarded the first For the Love of Edie scholarship to a graduating Beverly High School senior, Abigail Lindsay. She exhibited so many values and characteristics including majoring in Education with a desire to be a future writer.

For the love of Edie scholarship was created to honor the memory of Edie R. Black-Scherer, a highly educated woman, published writer, beloved mother, sister and friend whose life ended tragically at the young age of 45.

This scholarship honors her memory, and students who apply should be graduating seniors, who intend to enroll full time at an accredited four-year college.

Preference will be given to those who plan to major in Education, business or journalism, but will not be the deciding factor. Students should write an essay on how they think their education would change their lives.

$1,500 will be awarded.

Thank you,

to all who have participated in in past walks. We appreciate all of the love and support shown to our family and For the Love of Edie. This scholarship would not be possible without your kindness, generosity and love.
